Advent Daily Dose - 3rd Tuesday

We pray + in name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (21:28-32).
Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: What is your opinion? A man had two sons. he come to the first and said, 'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.' The son said in reply, 'I will not,' but afterwards he changed his mind and went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, 'Yes, sir,' but did not go. Which of the two did the father's will?" They answered, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the Kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him."

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!

Reflection: Jesus' message is that there's always a good time to reconcile with the Father. You don't have to wait to rack up enough sins; you don't have to wait until a tragedy presents itself in your life; you don't  have to wait until the circumstances are just right.  Jesus' message: no time like the present!  Dive in with both feet! A great way to dive in is to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Check this blog for information on addition days and times to celebrate the Sacrament as we approach Christmas. I heard someone say the other day that they bought themselves a Christmas present: "I gave myself a gift."  The Father wants a Gift this Christmas too! He wants us- all of us- and every one of us!

We pray: O God, who through your Only Begotten Son have made us a new creation, look kindly we pray, on the handiwork of your mercy, and at your Son's coming cleanse us from every stain of the old way of life. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us. St. Lucy, pray for us.

+In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
